Purple

I just read "Purple." All 5 chapters.

Before becoming the sarcastic and pessimistic private investigator we've all grown to love, Jessica Jones used to be a superhero called "Jewel." A battle with an evil super-villain led to this transformation. Jewel's clash with the villainous Purple Man led to her defeat and subsequent capture. The Purple Man controlled Jessica's actions, had her watch as he raped teen-aged girls which he picked up from the streets, and cruelly made Jessica beg for sex. For eight long months, Jessica was his prisoner and his slave. After reading about another successful adventure of his arch-foe Daredevil, the Purple Man ordered Jewel to storm Avengers Mansion and attack Daredevil (who wasn't even a member). As she flew towards the mansion, she noticed that the further away she was from the Purple Man, the lesser his control over her. Unfortunately, although her mind knew that what she was doing was wrong, her hands thought otherwise. Jewel clobbered the Scarlet Witch squarely at the back of her head while the Avengers quinjet was landing. Seeing the shocked and enraged looks on the faces of her fellow heroes, Jessica had no choice but to turn back and fly away. The Avengers followed suit and hot on her trail, the Scarlet Witch's teammates gave Jessica a beating that she would never forget. It was only due to her friend, Ms. Marvel's timely rescue that helped prevent the damage done from becoming irreparable. Bloody and bruised, Jessica almost lapsed into a coma. Soon after realizing that Jessica's mind was under the Purple Man's control, the Avengers apologized and even offered her a slot in their team as an auxiliary member. It was too late. Jessica decided to quit the hero business for good.

Flashforward to the present. We see that the Purple Man has escaped from prison. He has only one person in mind that he wants to visit.

Jessica Jones.

"Purple" turns everything topsy-turvy for Jessica. She's in for the fight of her life, which may lead to the ultimate redeeming moment... or to the death that she has long feared.
